Default computer

Kris, What is a good "start up" computer? I have a friend that doesn't want to buy a name brand but would rather have a computer that will allow any brand of hardware added to it. You know anything to recommend? Appreciate it.. thanks

Kris knows nothing about computers lol... maybe I should answer this one.

Myself, I don't buy 'premade' computers. When I 1st bought my computer (many yrs ago), I went to my local PC shop and told them what I wanted, that way it was built to my specs.. they put it together for a small fee... I'd stay away from dell for sure!.

What specs does your friend want?... that would help for sure... with a PC that's built to your specs, you'll most likely be able to add somethine else later on, vs getting something from say dell, and not knowing for sure if other parts will work in it.

You can always checkout TigerDirect.com & NewEgg.com

I was going to ask you this morning but you were busy so I asked Kris. Thanks for the info though. I'll send it to her and let her make up her own mind about what she wants to do. She didn't say just what specs she wanted on it but she didn't want to go with a "brand" name. She said something about Acer, at least, it sounded like Acer lol. Thanks again =)

It's been a long time since you've asked, Pixie, but let me tell you, just in case, Acer sucks. In the year that it was under warranty, I sent it in 4 times to get fixed- the mouse, the audio/visual, the CD/DVD drive, and the mouse again. Then it broke again two weeks after warranty was up... Be careful!
